Championship Game
Beggs entered Saturdays final looking to defend last years Classic crown while squaring off against the NOAH Jaguars. Jr. Garrett Pendergrass was phenomenal in a complete game 2 hitter while striking out 11 NOAH hitters. Offensively the Demons got the scoring started in the bottom of the 1st as Furer led off by being hit by pitch and would later score on a passed ball. In the second, Levi Bouse sparked the offense with a 1 out single. Soph. 1B Jarrod Barnett followed by being hit by pitch. Lane Scism then sac bunted Bouse and Barnett over and both scored when the throw to first sailed into right field. Beggs led it 3-0 after 2. NOAH would cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the 5th. The Demons however would seize control as Jones and Pendergrass singled and Dax McElroy drew a 1out bases-loaded RBI walk. The big blow of the inning and game was Lane Scism’s 3 RBI Triple to right giving the Demons a 7-2 lead. Beggs tacked on 2 more in the 6th on an 2RBI double to left by Junior 2B Levi Bouse. The now 9-2 lead will be all Pendergrass needed as he retired the last 6 Jaguar hitters in order giving the Demon’s their 8th win of the season and 2nd consecutive Classic Championship. The Golden Demons improved to 8-1 on the year and continue the middle portion of their schedule this week as they travel to Victory Christian on Monday and Kellyville on Tuesday. They will then open play in the 36th annual Dewar Gumbo Classic on Thursday at noon.
